Gift Guide for the PR Pro

It’s that time of year- gifting season! But for PR pros, this time of year is even busier (when isn’t it busy?) as we wrap up client projects and start planning for next year. If you have a PR pro in your life and are looking for the perfect gift, we’ve rounded up our ‘must haves’ that every pro should have in their toolkit.

·       Find a dress with pockets (or pants!) – If you’re running around during a media event, you don’t want to be lugging around a purse or messenger bag as you may (literally) have your hands full. However, more than likely you’ll be dressed up so make sure your closet includes a perfect little black dress (or pants) with pockets to keep your phone handy as you’re frantically calling your client (or media!) to ask why they aren’t at the appropriate meeting point yet!

·       Comfortable, cute flats – Pro tip, you don’t want to wear heels during a 2-hr+ event or when you’re conducting a lengthy media tour – trust us, your feet will thank you! Bonus points if it goes with your perfect pocketed ensemble.

·       Golf lessons – Yes, we know this might sound weird but trust us, knowing the basics of golf will come in handy when you’re invited to the “board room”, i.e. the golf course to talk business and strategy for a client. Not to mention, golf opens plenty of other networking opportunities. Funny story…one of us was invited to play in a client golf tournament and had never played golf in her life! She scrambled to go to Top Golf a few times and even took two quick pro lessons, so she didn’t completely embarrass herself – we’ll leave you guessing as to which Dala team member this story is about!

·       A sleek portfolio – whether you’re heading to a new business meeting or a press conference, having a nice leather portfolio in hand will instantly elevate your look (and hold all your important papers!).

·       A fancy planner – to go inside their portfolio of course. Every PR pro loves a good list, and having a nice planner to keep track of every meeting, interview, and press release is key.

·       A travel coffee mug – need we say more?

·       Personalized stationery – ask any PR pro and they’ll tell you the power of a handwritten thank you note, even in today’s digital world.

·       An emergency kit with all the necessities – While these things may seem mundane or seemingly unimportant, maybe even forgettable, you’ll be happy when they come in handy! An emergency kit filled with items such as an external phone charger, business card holder, and extra pens will keep you prepared for whatever the day throws at you.

These are just some of our tried and true necessities for any PR pro to make life easier. What are your PR pro must-haves?
