Galloping to success, Dala is putting nonprofit and communication strategies in motion

Have you ever wondered how our agency got the name Dala Communications? It’s a question our CEO & President Leah Ekmark Williams gets asked a lot as Dala isn’t a common word or name.

Leah comes from Swedish ancestry as her grandfather immigrated to the United States from Sweden in 1903, passing through Ellis Island. Inspired by her heritage and her family’s legacy of entrepreneurship and hard work, she named her agency after the Dalecarlian (Dala) horse, a traditional carved horse painted red with white detailing. She shares more about her heritage and inspiration with Dallas Innovates and how she is “trotting” the agency into its newest service, a nonprofit practice group aimed at providing fundraising services to small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations.
